About The SeaTREK® Gallery
Nothing has been able to get you closer to the fishes without having to come up for a breath of air, or prior diving experience, than SeaTREK®! Like something out of a Jules Verne book, SeaTREK’s® unique helmet, weighing around 72 pounds, but only 15 pounds underwater, allows several thousands of under the sea goers a chance to walk below the waves and spend a day with our ocean critters.
Opening in 2016, SeaTREK® at OdySea Aquarium is the only location of over 50 locations around the world that is both indoors and houses strictly animals from the Indo-Pacific. The entire Trek lasts you about an hour with 20-25 minutes of helmet time. From the beautiful markings of the Honeycomb Whiptail stingray, to the graceful 5-foot long Zebra Shark, guests take in everything up close and personal. Our trained dive team will guide you through the exhibit which holds over 120 thousand gallons of salt water and hundreds of stunning fishes. With a bottle of krill sprayed into the water by your guide, it will create a feeding frenzy of hungry fish mouths right before your eyes. On occasion though Trekkers will come across creatures of legend, with their long vibrantly colored tails and playful demeanors, SeaTREK® at OdySea Aquarium is the only SeaTREK® with visits from mythical mermaids.
During 2017 OdySea Aquarium had over 6,000 SeaTREK® participants including 16 submerged marriage proposals. However worldwide SeaTREK’s® numbers grow by the thousands every year with over 3 million Trekkers since 1999. SeaTREK® is available for guests 9 years or older here at OdySea Aquarium, with the eldest participant in SeaTREK’s® history so far being 93 years old. So, whether you’re into the white sandy sea floor of Sapi Island in Borneo, Malaysia or off to see the sunken submarine in Philipsburg of St. Maarten in the Royal Caribbean, there’s a SeaTREK® underwater adventure waiting for you in the middle of the Sonoran Desert right here at OdySea Aquarium.
